Puerto Plata Cable Car (Teleferico) announces new hours of operation

PUERTO PLATA.- As part of the priorities to face the complicated sanitary situation that affects the country and the world, the management of the Puerto Plata Tourist Cable Car announced that it will reduce its operations to just five days a week.

The Puerto Plata Cable Car will not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week, but its activities will take place from Wednesday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), it will work from 8:30 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon.

As Rafael Núñez, who is the general director of the Puerto Plata Cable Car, explained, the new state of emergency established by the authorities forced them to propose different scenarios, always taking into account their priorities, the staff, the electronic and mechanical equipment, and the visitors.

“We made the decision to reduce our service hours to five days a week, since after the total closure of our Cable Car last March to comply with the official provisions to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 virus, it was last Friday 3 July we reopened our doors, “said Núñez.

He stated that the size of the ecological park at the top of Loma Isabel de Torres and the measures taken for the use of the Cable Car, guarantee that the funicular can be visited with all reliability and safety, always maintaining the required social distance.

He said that during the time the pandemic persists, they have chosen to divide the workforce into two groups with a monthly rotation scheme, which will allow half to keep working with full pay and the other half suspended with 50% of their salary.
