Two youngsters get US$5 million bonuses to start in Minor League Baseball
Two Dominican 16-year olds cashed in signing MLB minor league contracts for upwards of US$5 million bonuses this week. Jasson Domínguez (The Martian) with the New York Yankees, a new record for a Dominican prospect. Domínguez will get a US$5.1 million and US$250,000 in potential scholarship money should he choose to further his education. The No. 2 prospect, The Oakland Athletics signed No. 2 international prospect, Robert Puason. Puason and Domínguez trained at the teams’ baseball academies in the Dominican Republic.
