PUERTO PLATA.- The provincial government of Puerto Plata, in coordination with Santiago, the Ministries of the Presidency and the Environment, as well as the Emergency Operations Center (COE), will hold this Wednesday, March 14 at 9:45 in the morning. , a simultaneous earthquake simulation.
It is explained that said joint activity of the aforementioned entities will be carried out within the framework of the strengthening of the local capacities for coordination, preparation and response established by the earthquake contingency plans of the provinces of Puerto Plata and Santiago.
An informative note sent to the writing of this medium, explains that to achieve this goal it is imperative that human resources have a degree of operational readiness that allows them, in an emergency situation, to identify their functions and their jobs in accordance with the set of procedures and resources available for it.
The exercise consists in the execution of a hypothesis related to a sudden event (Earthquake-Tsunami), which will significantly affect the provinces of Puerto Plata and Santiago; such a situation, in a fictitious manner, will cause serious damage and will cause great needs that require the application of a system of coordination and joint operation among all the institutions that make up the COE.
Similarly, it is indicated that the objective of the simulation is to facilitate the process of making operational and executive decisions in relation to the different hypothetical complexities that will be provided since the degree of efficiency is only possible to achieve it with a constant practice of operation versus hypothetical situations that may arise.
In this sense in this exercise of response, operation and decision making, in the face of an earthquake or an event in process, will count with the participation of emergency units and brigadistas of the Civil Defense, Amber Rescue, Municipal Firemen, 9-1-1 , among other organisms, since it contemplates verifying the actual application of the Plans made and the procedures established in the respective operation plan, is a totally advised and controlled exercise.
