The start of 2018 is very active with arrival of tourist cruises to Puerto Plata

PUERTO PLATA.- The company Carnival Cruises Lines announced that from the first days of 2018, the arrival of tourist cruises to the modern Amber Cove terminal in Maimón, Puerto Plata, will be very intense.

According to the information, “La Novia del Atlántico” started on Monday, January 1st, at 8:30 in the morning, the Carnival ship arrived. This vessel under the tutelage of Captain Vincenzo Alcaras, docked at the terminal Amber Cove from Miami (Florida), 4,824 tourists as passengers, in addition to a 1,436 crew, staying an 8 hour period in Puerto Plata and then sail to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Officials of the Ministry of Tourism say that due to the active arrival of cruise ships to Puerto Plata it is expected that approximately 29,331 tourists will visit this destination during the first 5 days of January in 7 vessels.

The maritime tourism operations continued on Tuesday with the arrival of the ‘Carnival Magic’ cruise ship with 5,175 people on board between tourists and crew, while today, on Wednesday, the ‘Carnival Ecstasy’ arrived, bringing 2,976 visitors on board.

It is expected that on Thursday, January 4, the tourist boat Carnival Conquest will touch the port Amber Cove of Maimon, which will bring 4,130 passengers and the transatlantic ship Eurodam that transports 3,675 people on board between passengers and crew.

To finish the first working week of the new year 2018, this Friday will continue activities at the Amber Cove with the arrival of Carnival Splendor cruise with 4,162 passengers and the Azura with 4 thousand 322 visitors.

Finally, the businessman Edgar Martinez Reyes, when commenting on the arrival of the cruise ships to Puerto Plata, said that the Amber Cove terminal in Maimon is one of the best investments that has been made in the province in recent years and every day it goes to leave more benefits to the economy of Puerto Plata.
