Fines for overstay in the Dominican republic
Tourists from Europe can quite easily spend a holiday of up to 30 days in the Dominican Republic. Upon arrival at customs they have to purchase a tourist card of $ 10. Would you like to stay longer, than you have to go to ‘Dirección General de Migración’ in Santo Domingo. You can also make a trip to Haiti and then you’d get a new entry stamp in your passport valid for 30 days. That will cost you a total of 41 dollars. You can also for example sail with the boat down to Puerto Rico and return.
If you exceed the 30 days period just one day, you pay a 2500 peso fine. There is a full list of fines available.
