President Medina visits La Isabela and Luperón, promises to help execute works in that part of Puerto Plata

PUERTO PLATA.- On Sunday, the President of the Republic, Danilo Medina, paid a visit to La Isabela Histórica and Luperón in the western part of Puerto Plata province, where he committed himself to the locals to provide help from the government to achieve the desired development of the area.

Medina toured the archaeological and historical park of La Isabela where, exactly 523 years ago, the first citadel of America was founded, which is a place characterized by a singular and beautiful viewpoint located inside a bay where the Bajabonico River empties.

Accompanied by several ministers, officials of his government and personalities of the region, the president, toured the ruins, the museum and the remains of the ancient city, where now only stones, crosses and memories, which are tangible evidence of the arrival of the European colonizers to the New World.

Medina said that he has firm determination to extend the solidarity policies of his government to this area, so that it has the infrastructures and conditions of presenting itself with better possibilities in the flow of tourists arriving in Puerto Plata, with an emphasis on cruise tourism.

“What investors need, facilities and legal security, they will have it, so that the investment projects in La Isabela Histórica and Luperón that awaits the development of tourism will begin and we will develop a plan to improve road infrastructure conditions of these legendary communities, “assured President Danilo Medina.
