Hungarian drowns in Cabarete beach
PUERTO PLATA – The National Police reported that a young Hungarian disappeared Thursday afternoon when he was swimming on Cabarete beach.
The missing foreigner was identified as Peter Karolyi, 24, who worked as a waiter in one of the local restaurants. He was apparently swept away by waves and currents. Agents of CESTUR and friends of the foreigner are trying to locate his body.

The body of Peter Karolyi, 24, from Hungary, who disappeared while swimming off Cabarete Beach on Thursday afternoon, was found by Domingo the Fisherman late this afternoon.
Peter’s parents have arrived in the Country and are deeply grateful to all of the many Government Departments, including CESTUR, National Police and FARD, among others, together with the many local fishermen, residents and tourists who participated in the search for their son.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of great loss.
