Government to install road signs as traffic fatalities mount
Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Thursday announced the installation of road signs that weeks to reduce fatalities in traffic accidents in Greater Santo Domingo.
He said the Signaling Plan is carried out on president Danilo Medina’s instructions and will be concluded within the next 30 days.
He said after that date the program will be expanded to national highways and local thoroughfares in all provinces.
Dominican Republic has been ranked at the top in traffic fatalities in the Americas and second worldwide, a dismal distinction evidenced by the deaths in separate accidents of two Major League Baseball players last Sunday.
