Damajagua Falls Natural Monument will be expanded

PUERTO PLATA.- The area comprising the Damajagua Falls Natural Monument will expand due to the fact that the State Council of Sugar (CEA) has decided to transfer all the surrounding lands to this tourist attraction located in the municipality of Imbert.

This information was revealed by the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Francisco Domínguez Brito, who made the announcement about the expansion of the territorial perimeter that includes 27 Falls of Damajagua, natural attraction that is visited by thousands of domestic and foreign tourists.

The official said that in addition to the expansion of the area of ​​the Damajagua Saltos Natural Monument, the state agency intends to develop several projects throughout the province of Puerto Plata as they are in the beach of La Ensenada, Loma Isabel de Torres for which they will sign a co-management agreement and completion of the urban parks of Sosúa and Cabarete.

The environmental minister also said that in the coming days there will be a campaign against sonic pollution, the extraction of aggregates for river construction, as well as beach sand, deforestation to produce charcoal and the care of protected spaces.
