COE extends green alert to six provinces
SANTO DOMINGO. The Emergency Operations Center (COE) raised six provinces on a green alert because of the rains generated by a frontal system located in the eastern portion of the territory.
The provinces declared on a green alert are Santiago, Dajabón and María Trinidad Sánchez. Earlier, the COE gave this same level of alert for Puerto Plata, Montecristi and Espaillat, for possible sudden floods in populations located near rivers, streams and canyons.
The COE maintains alert levels for the Atlantic coast from the Bay of Manzanillo to Cabo Engaño, including the Bay of Samaná, for waves and abnormal winds. In that sense, the use of beaches is prohibited, as well as water sports and recreational activities throughout the Atlantic coast.
