Check online before buying a used phone
The president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) José del Castillo Saviñón announced that as of 15 February 2017 cell phone users will have access to an online service to verify if a cell phone has been stolen. Del Castillo predicts the new service will reduce the number of cell phone robberies. Del Castillo also announced that as part of the Digital Republic Program, Wi-Fi will be free at 5,200 public schools.
