2 young brothers report assault by 4 policemen on Sosua – Cabarete road

PUERTO PLATA.- Two young brothers reported that they became victims of physical aggression by four National Police officers who beat them, shoot at them in an incident that happened last Saturday night (Apr 15) on the Sosúa-Cabarete road.

The victims, Roselio and Deivi Caraballo López explained to reporters that the Police targeted them for gun regulations and without saying much gave them a beating leaving bruises and blows on their body.

The Caraballo López brothers, who work as drivers of public transportation cars that cover the Rio San Juan-Gaspar Hernández-Sosúa route, indicated that they feared for their lives because police officers identified only as Tato Sarita and Chino de Moca, who in the company of two other uniformed men threatened to kill the brothers.

They pointed out that this incident happened when the vehicle of Deivi got broken down and so his brother came up to help in the community Veragua near the fun center Punto Frio, that’s when police agents dressed as civilians on three motorcycles attacked them by pointing their pistols.

The two young brothers shared their story with the communicator and lawyer Fabio García, who is a also producer of the television program “Behind the Rumor”. They complained that after the incident they went directly to the police station of Gaspar Hernández to file a complaint but were ignored there. Instead the brothers went to the press and then to the Prosecutor’s Office in Puerto Plata.
