13th Reunion of former residents of Puerto Plata province living in New York

Wednesday, July 12, the organizing committee met for the traditional reunion of former residents of Puerto Plata province living in New York. This is the 13th time the reunion takes place in the week of August 4th. The program starts on Friday August 4 with a ‘Gala Dinner Dance 2017′ in Astoria World Manor in New York. The merengue band Kerubanda will provide appropriate dance music. Participation to this dinner cost $ 100.
On Saturday, August 5th the event continues with softball games in the Randall Island Park, under the Triboro Bridge. Sunday afternoon and evening there is a large-scale BBQ in the park with performances from various Dominican bands. Also, many (former) residents of SosĂșa will participate at the gala dinner and BBQ parties. Sunday, August 13th, the Dominican Day Parade through the streets of New York takes place. At the parade, thousands of delegates of Dominican sports clubs, study clubs, carnival, music, dance and social clubs participate.

Also, well-known artists are invited for the parade.
On the side of the road thousands of Dominicans cheer and dance to some catchy music. About one million Dominicans live in New York. Among them there are hundreds of former residents of SosĂșa and Cabarete.
