Waiter rips off nearly RD$1 million from credit cards
National District Permanent Attention Office judge Suinda Brito has ordered two months in pre-trial custody for Marcos Aurelio Nuñez Sánchez, accused by the District Attorney of stealing RD$943,620 from three banks.
According to the indictment, on 9 September 2016 Nuñez Sánchez was caught red-handed at a bakery in Naco where he worked as a waiter and was using an electronic device known as a “skimmer or beeper” in order to obtain credit card or debit card information from customers, and cloning the cards.
According to the District Attorney, the case was under investigation by the Department of High Tech Crimes, which was trailing Nuñez Sanchez, who is being held at the Najayo Correctional and Rehabilitation Center.
