Wage increase in Police forces
SANTO DOMINGO – Great expectation reigns among the members of the National Police in the event of receiving an increase in current salary.
The hopes of the agents that their salaries be improved were encouraged by the recent disposal of the Executive to add the amount of RD $ 3 billion that goes to public safety in the general budget 2017, with a wage increase contemplated for policemen.
Agents expressed uncertainty about the lack of information about the percentage by which this will be increased and who will benefit by the measure, taking into account that the announcement states that the increase will be made in a timely manner.
Until last July, the National Police destined monthly to payroll RD $ 395,043,555.26, distributed among nearly 38,000 members, who earn salaries between RD $ 7 000 (received by 10,623 ranks) and RD $ 81,785 bearing by the CEO of the company.
The demand for better pay for police is coming from a large sectors of society, including the agents themselves.
Relatives of police officers recently marched from Independence Park to the National Palace, demanding wage improvement for their relatives.
