Tourist murder suspect killed by Police
The Police announced that 22-year old Kelvin Brito Lopez, one of two men suspected of the murder of a 76-year old German tourist Ernst Gunter Haun on Thursday, 11 February 2016 while strolling along Puerto Plata’s Malecon seafront boulevard, was killed in a shootout with the Police. The other man, identified as Dauris Manuel Felipe (Doga), is still at large.
Haun, who was staying at Hacienda in Cofresi, Puerto Plata was murdered apparently when trying to stop the thieves from stealing his wife’s necklace. She was unharmed in the incident.
The Police said that the deceased 22-year old murder suspect was identified by surveillance camera footage and located several hours after the murder. The Police has called for Felipe to turn himself in.
Meanwhile, Police chief General Nelson Peguero Paredes announced the Police appointed Brigade General Cesar Sena Rojas to replace Colonel Jose Santana Morrillo on the North Coast.
