Tourist card should suffice for Chinese visitors
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic Hotels and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES) president Simon Suarez on Tuesday asked president Danilo Medina to include China on the list of countries whose nationals can visit with just a tourist card.
He said the country is at the forefront of the trend to eliminate the traditional visa for travelers, a policy he affirms the World Tourism Organization (OMT) promotes to facilitate global movement.
Suarez said citizens from 145 nationals can now enter the country as tourists with just a tourist card, which can be bought at the airport ticket counter, and China is the only major sources of tourists which is not on that list still.
He stressed China was the fastest growing tourism source market in 2014 and went on to lead in tourist spending because Chinese travelers spent 165 billion dollars, the US 112 billion and Germany 92 billion.
