Toddler who disappeared 10 days ago in Altamira found dead

PUERTO PLATA – Several officers and the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) of the National Police agents conducted the investigation to determine the circumstances in which a child of 2 years old died, he had gone missing for over 10 days.

This tragic event has caused a big trauma in the city Altamira, as the lifeless body of Frankely Lopez Cabrera was found decomposing covered with dry leaves in a cocoa farm in the hamlet of Palma Pica of that community in the western part of the province of Puerto Plata.

As reported by the National Police, the body of the child López Cabrera had been missing since 23 December 2015, after an intense search for more than ten days, he was found accidentally in the bushes by José Aquino Toribio Núñez, Henry Santos Hiraldo y Juan Carlos Santos when they were searching for mangos to feed pigs.

The decomposed body of the toddler son of Mr. Evelin Cabrera and Fernando Lopez, was found face down in his clothes and covered with leaves, the body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in Santiago for an autopsy. The acting coroner; Dr. Mario Cesar Lopez Peralta, certified that the child had received severe head trauma and concussion.
