The hot weather is here
As everyone will have noticed, the hot weather has arrived. The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reported yesterday, Wednesday 18 May 2016 that a high-pressure system located over the Atlantic Ocean is reducing the chances of any rain in the immediate future. During the early mornings, nonetheless, local conditions may lead to the formation of sufficient clouds to cause scattered showers in the provinces of San Juan de la Maguana, Elias Pina, Bahoruco, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Altagracia (Higuey), Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), and Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui).
These conditions are expected to continue until tomorrow, Friday 20 May 2016 when the east-southeasterly breeze will increase local humidity and tomorrow night and tomorrow evening, Friday 20 May 2016 there may be isolated thunderstorms in the southwest, southeast, northeast, the central mountains and along the border.
The national forecast is for the high temperatures to continue throughout today. People are advised to wear light clothing and drink plenty of water.
