The high cost of applying the new Police Reform Law
To comply with the new Police Reform Law will cost the government RD$420 million in the retirement payments for 31 generals, as reported in Diario Libre. The new law establishes that the police force cannot have more than 20 active generals. The force at present has 51 generals.
The law gives the government two years to retire the generals. A general needs to be 50 years old to be retired.
The monthly payroll of the Police is RD$387 million.
