The Favorite Santo Domingo Restaurants of the Leaders of the D.R.’s Tourism Sector

Those who have occupied the top executive positions of the Dominican Republic’s Association of Hotels and Tourism (ASONAHORES) are true experts when it comes to the country’s dynamic tourism industry.

For this reason, AccessDR – the country’s top tourism magazine – decided to ask some of them what their favorite restaurants in Santo Domingo are.  The three most popular restaurants, according to the survey, are Botega Fratelli, La Casina and Don Pepe.

The magazine asked the Association’s current and last 10 presidents what their favorite restaurants were, receiving answers from seven of the eleven surveyed.

The most popular restaurants were the Botega Fratelli, La Casina and Don Pepe. The results are as follow:

Bottega Fratelli
By far, this is Santo Domingo’s top restaurant.  According to some, it is “The” city’s best restaurant.

The restaurant’s oven pizza, served on the terrace, in a relaxed atmosphere, is truly a nice experience.  Top recommendations in the menu:  “La Costata Di Manzo,” its “Pistachio and Grand Meunier Souffle” are my favorites.  However, its top desert is its Brownie Cake.  I love it!

Don Pepe
This is Santo Domingo’s best Spanish restaurant.  It is also the meeting ground for the country’s powerful political leaders during lunch hours.

La Cassina
The restaurant is known for its exquisite international cuisine, its fine selection of cocktails and wines, and its proverbial elegance.

Also, best Fusion cuisine served in an excellent ambience.

David Crockett
Best Steakhouse

Excellent Spanish food and prices.

La Tagliata
Excellent steakhouse, informal and very welcoming ambiance.

“Los Tres Cerditos” (The Three Little Pigs)
Simply sensational!  The pork rinds served in tacos, flute or quesadilla, are the best.

Meson de Bari
The best Dominican cuisine in Santo Domingo.  The stewed goat, shredded beef and other delicacies of Creole cuisine are highly recommended.

Pat’e Palo
World-class cuisine, served in a Colonial setting.  Great experience.

For years, the best Japanese restaurant in Santo Domingo. Period!

Sapori d’Italia
The best northern Italian cuisine, offering a well-balanced menu with dishes that reflect the personality of the owner/chef.  The service is excellent!

Its elegant/casual atmosphere, excellent high-quality menu, are simply spectacular!

Its extensive menu is designed to suit all tastes.

Offers a well-seasoned “Ceviche.”

The city’s top seafood restaurant.  Its escargots and prawns are always fresh. Generous portions, very similar to the best restaurants in Spain.

I love it because I can enjoy a fine Dominican meal “salon-style.”  The dishes reflect the best of Dominican cuisine and flavors, all creations of its award winning “Chef Tita.”
