Tel Aviv – Punta Cana direct flights start October
Santo Domingo.- The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) on Wednesday announced approval of s permit for Tel Aviv-Punta Cana charter flights by Israel’s El Al Airlines starting Oct. 2016, with B777 aircraft.
Also approved were Mexico City-Santo Domingo weekly flights by Mexican carriers Aeromexico and Aeroliteral, expected to fly 100,000 passengers per year.
Both airlines are slated to start regular operations in late March.
Civil Aviation Board president Roger Jover said the new direct route will benefit thousands of travelers who won’t have to go through third countries to fly from Mexico to the Dominican Republic.
“The newly approved routes correspond to Dominican Republic’s open skies policy following the directives from president Danilo Medina, to increasingly expand the country’s connectivity with the world, while enabling the development of new markets for tourism, trade and international investment,” the JAC said in a statement.
