Swimming pools being set up in National District
National District Mayor Roberto Salcedo has announced the Easter Week swimming pools attraction at Guibia Park beside the Caribbean Sea for the fifth year running. Roberto Salcedo is running for his fourth term as city mayor.
He stated that that this was an occasion for people to enjoy themselves and no political activity of any sort would be allowed.
He said that from Wednesday, 23 March 2016, the George Washington Avenue (Malecon) would be closed to vehicular traffic between San Geronimo and Socorro Sanchez streets. A total of 12 wading pools will be placed along the stretch.
In addition, this year there will be a Song Festival with 35 contestants chosen from more than 100 entries. There will also be domino competitions, inflatable toys and sports as well as the traditional “habichuelas con dulce” – sweet beans – for sale. This year, a song festival has also been organized.
