Sosúa journalist and lawyer who was shot last Saturday, is recovering
PUERTO PLATA - Journalist and lawyer Ydelqui Brito Rodriguez remains stable at a medical center in Santiago, after he received several shots Saturday night by masked men on board a motorcycle. He was driving his vehicle down the main street of Sosúa.
Brito Rodríguez was attacked by two masked men who shot him inside his SUV Toyota Land Cruiser, when he arrived at about 7:20 pm at her father’s house located in El Batey, Sosúa. Immediately, he was taken to the Medical Center, but because of his serious condition was transferred to the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS).
Bullets got him in one foot, in the arm and left shoulder.
So far, authorities have not reported anything about this attack, the Public Prosecutor Puerto Plata Holder; Judge Osvaldo Antonio Bonilla Hiraldo, personally undertook the investigation of the case, also the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) of the National Police deepen the investigations to arrest the two men who tried to kill the journalist and lawyer.
In reporting on the health status of Ydelqui Brito Rodríguez, mayor of Sosúa; Ilana Neumann, wrote a public message in her Facebook: “Friends just now come to Santiago, I inform you that our colleague Ydelqui is very stable, converse with him and expressed his affection and solidarity from all of you. Thank God, he has overcome this difficult situation. “
While according to the journalist June Henriquez, a group of journalists and relatives to the media citizens of Sosúa, will hold a press conference Monday at 10:00 am at the Palace of Justice in Puerto Plata and then will visit the Northern Regional director of the National Police; General Augusto Cesar Rojas Sena, which require clarification and arrest of the masterminds and perpetrators of the criminal attack against the journalist and lawyer Ydelqui Brito Rodriguez.
