SIN-Mark Penn: Medina 57.3%, Abinader 27.4%
According to the latest SIN-Mark Penn poll, if the presidential election were held today, President Danilo Medina would defeat his main rival Luis Abinader 57.3% to 27.4% in the first round, as reported in Diario Libre. Guillermo Moreno would receive 3.6% of the vote, Amable Aristy 2.5%, Quique Antun 1.4%, Eduardo Estrella 1.3% and Minou Tavarez Mirabal 0.7%. Only 0.2% said they planned to abstain.
Three of the candidates, Amable Aristy, Quique Antun and Eduardo Estrella will not be running for President. Aristy has announced his support for President Medina, while Antun and Estrella have pledged their support for Abinader.
The poll revealed that in the case of a second round being necessary, President Danilo would secure 61.2% of the vote compared to Luis Abinader’s projected 35.9%. While 36.3% of those polled described themselves as independent, 52.1% of them said they would vote for Medina and 25.3% for Abinader.
A total of 1,000 people were polled between 6 and 10 January 2016. The poll has a margin of error of + or minus 3.1%.
