Regulator to shutter of 50 illegal radio stations nationwide
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Telecom Institute (Indotel) president José del Castillo on Tuesday announced a nationwide shutdown of 50 radio stations that operate illegally.
He said the first five illegal stations were shuttered last week in Monseñor Noel province (central), and warned that the operation will include nearly all regions.
“Indotel comes with the objective of reorganizing the radio spectrum and getting the regulator to carry out its role, which is precisely to regulate.”
He urged the owners of illegal stations to legalize their situation “or else.”
“They will be closed, that is, the Indotel will seize the equipment in accordance with what is established by law and as a result, will lose their investments.”
