Puerto Plata’s public transport increases fee after government remove subsidies
PUERTO PLATA unions and associations affiliated to the National Confederation of Transport (CONATRA) in Puerto plata region, announced that from Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 they will increase ticket prices, after the government eliminated the subsidy to fuels used by the carriers.
The announcement was made by the president of Transport Block Cibao (BLOTRANCI), Luis Bencosme and the president of the Municipal Federation of Transportation Puerto Plata (FEMUTRAPP), Jeward Suero, who claimed that starting Tuesday there will be increased tariffs for passengers on buses and car concho, buses traveling to Santiago and other towns in the region.
“We want to make the people of Puerto Plata aware that from tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18 there will be an increase of fifteen pesos in the price…, “said Bencosme.
It is recalled that last week, the government eliminated the subsidy to regular diesel that since 2011 gave trade unionists transport, claiming that there are no longer the reasons for that facility, according to resolution 233 issued by the Ministry of industry and Commerce, as was released last night by the incumbent, engineer Juan Themistocles Montas (I fear) during a meeting with the media.
