Biography:

J.E.Moreus is a native New Yorker, has been living in Southern California, and now in the Dominican Republic. Joe has been teaching high school and middle school for the past 30 years and enjoys relating to his students as if they are his children. He loves teaching and believes his interaction with adolescents keeps him young at heart. Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a Master’s Degree in Education. He was teaching in Long Beach, California, teaching English language development and mathematics. Joe enjoys scuba diving in tropical beauty spots and reading spiritual materials from various traditions, interjecting these philosophies into his writings. Many of his stories were written while living in a 12 foot trailer next to a frog pond some years ago. He dusted off these manuscripts and rewrote them for publication. He is the author of four children’s books: Toad Hollow, Marlboro & the Dragon, Dunbar, The Magic Shoes.

Joe’s writing was heavily influenced by J.R.R. Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, Lewis Carroll, Roald Dahl, Arnold Lobel, Maurice Sendak, Aesop, Sufist teaching stories, and Biblical parables. He continues to write new material and aspires to retire writing personal prose vignettes that are both poignant and humorous. © 2008 by The Friends of the Children’s Library; Huntington Beach, CA
