Police rescues kidnapped woman

The Police have announced that they rescued 60-year old Ana Antonia Santos Ortiz who had been kidnapped in San Francisco de Macoris yesterday, Monday 4 April 2016. She was found by National Police criminal investigations anti-kidnapping unit (DICRIM) agents at a residence in Santo Domingo East. Four men have been arrested accused of the kidnapping: 52-year old Jose Agustin Paulino, 47-year old Osvaldo Gonzalez, 49-year old Felix Mateo and 36-year old Pericles Avelino Perez. They were asking for a ransom payment of US$350,000.

Santos Ortiz is the widow of Arsenio Diaz Rodriguez, a notorious San Francisco de Macoris drug trafficker who was killed in 2012. El Dia reports that press archives show during the 1980s and 1990s he was one of the largest drug distributors in the New York City area. According to reports, she was kidnapped due to an alleged debt from criminal activities in New York City.
