Police arrest man charged with Taiwan diplomat’s murder in 2012

Santo Domingo.- The police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 52 year old man charged with the in April 2012, murder of Taiwan diplomat Met-Chen Ou (Julia Ou), 52, in a building on Bolivar Av., in the capital.

Julio Cesar Muñoz was arrested during a raid in the Villas Agricolas sector of the National District. The police said Muñoz is one of three men who allegedly raped and strangled Ou, as certified by a DNA test of his semen.

Police Criminal Investigations director Ney Aldrin Bautista said they’re working to identify other possible participants.

The official said Muñoz was a part-time painter at the building where the Taiwanese diplomat lived, adding that he was incriminated when he failed a polygraph test.

In a press conference at National Police headquarters, Taiwan Embassy chief of staff Thomas Cheng thanked the Dominican authorities for having solved the crime.
