Plus Ultra Begins Regular Flights Between Madrid and Santo Domingo
The Spanish airline Plus Ultra recently began regular flights to Latin America, with connecting flights between Madrid and Santo Domingo.
The flights, which began on Saturday, June 18, are scheduled to fly to Santo Domingo on Mondays and Saturdays with an initial fleet of two A340-300 airplanes with a 303-seat capacity (18 in Business and 285 in Economy).
The airline announced that it plans to add two new aircraft – A330 and A340 models – to cover new routes.
The airline will increase a healthy competition between the Santo Domingo-Madrid routes, which is also covered by the Spanish airlines Iberia and Air Europa.
The new Ultra Plus regular flights to the Dominican capital coincides with the recovery of the Spanish market in the Dominican Republic, which experienced a healthy jump that went from 150,859 to 172,245 2014 tourists last year alone. Spain is the Dominican Republic’s third largest market in Europe. During the January-May period alone, the number of Spanish tourists registered at more than 56,000.
