People with Machetas destroyed banana farm in Villa Isabela
PUERTO PLATA – The National Police are investigating the circumstances in which people so far unknown early morning on Monday entered a private agricultural property in the municipality of Villa Isabela, where with machete they destroyed more than 100 bushes of bananas production, many of which already had almost cutting clusters.
According to data supplied by journalist Simon Peña, damage to agricultural production carried out by unknown individuals, occurred in a farm owned by Mr. Jose Gomez, who is the president of the municipal committee of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the town located in the western part of Puerto Plata province.
To comment on this incident, the citizen Aneudy Peralta called on the authorities to investigate and arrest those responsible for such harmful doings.
In the municipality it is said that the owner of the damaged farm is accused of organizing an electoral fraud in the last elections to the point that he was allegedly threatened with death after the elections in which surprisingly he won the candidate of the PLD-PRD alliance; Luis Alberto Morrobel.
