Opposition candidate to declare teen pregnancy as a national emergency
Santo Domingo.- Alianza Pais candidate Guillermo Moreno said Tuesday that if he wins the 15 May presidential elections, his government will declare teen pregnancy as a national emergency and will deal with sexual and reproductive education in schools nationwide.
According to Diario Libre, Moreno met with adolescents and youth as part of a World Vision activity and said his teen pregnancy prevention policy includes coordination between the ministries of Education and Public Health to ensure a content really adapted to the most important canons of science.
The political leader also proposes that sexual and reproductive education should be accompanied by better training in values, which will allow children and adolescents to acquire a high level of awareness of the responsibilities and physical, mental, social and economic consequences involved in teen pregnancy.
