Officials announced restart of the construction of Maimon-Cofresi road, and renovation of historic center of Puerto Plata
PUERTO PLATA After work expansion to four lanes of the highway Maimon-Cofresí, and renovation of the historic center of Puerto Plata had been paralyzed in mid-November last year for lack of money, on Thursday three government officials announced that these works would be restarted in the coming days.
The announcement was made by Minister of Public Works; Gonzalo Castillo Terrero, interviewed by journalist Miguel Guerrero on “El Despertador” that pervades Color Vision (Channel 9), who said that this week supposedly the works will be resumed on the construction of the road Maimon -Cofresí-Puerto Plata, which infrastructure was paralyzed for more than 10 weeks due to some technical soil studies.
The deputy minister of tourism for the northern region; July Almonte director Nina and Infrastructure Executing Committee Resorts (CEIZTUR); Kirsis De los Santos, also announced today that in the coming week the work of revitalization and renovation of the historic center of Puerto Plata will resume as well.
Similarly, the palace official expressed his hope that in the next four months Maimon – Puerto Plata stretch boulevard will be built to four lanes protected by walls like “New Jersey” is completed with their respective distributors and that road traffic has a new section built in 2015 to six kilometers (Don Gregorio Terminal Amber Cove) in order to facilitate the movement of the number of vehicles generated by the arrival of cruise ships full of tourists.
Emphasizes that the announcement of the resumption of the work of renovation and revitalization of the historic center of Puerto Plata, in addition to building four lanes Maimon-Cofresí-Puerto Plata highway, is carried by officials after the Association Businessmen and Traders Puerto Plata (Adecom) and various sectors of the province, especially in transport this week demanded the completion of these works due to mishaps and high danger.
