New quick migration clearance system at Las Americas airport
New equipment that permits the fast track entrance and departure of Dominican travelers will soon be in operation at Las Americas International Airport. The software and autogate systems speed up passenger flow while guaranteeing effective migration controls. Passengers already registered in the Migration Agency (DGM) biometric database can use the new system. Registration can be completed at the airport as well as at the DGM’s main headquarters at the Centro de los Heroes in Santo Domingo. In order to register, biometric data is obtained, the passport scanned, and photo taken.
Passengers have the option to register for the fast track entry and departure system at the airport. Registration is free until 30 June 2016. Afterwards, it will cost RD$995.
As reported in Listin Diario, the new system will reduce migration clearance times to less than a minute. The system eliminates the need for passengers to clear migration at one of the migration booths staffed by inspectors. Instead, the autogate just scans the passport and registers fingerprint for entry and departure.
