Motorcyclists account for 85% of road deaths
The Ministry of Public Health’s Traffic Accident Death Reduction Program director Alberto Diaz says that 85% of the 2,164 people who died in traffic accidents in 2014-2015 were motorcycle riders. Thousands of others survive but are left with lifelong disabilities.
The figures published by the Dr. Dario Contreras, Vinicio Calventi and Juan Bosch Trauma Hospitals reveal that 7,534 of the 14,463 traffic accident cases treated in their emergency rooms were motorcyclists.
