More Direct Flights from South America to Punta Cana
South American airlines LAN and TAM, both members of the LATAM Airlines Group, recently announced that it was opening four weekly flights from Bogota and Brasilia to Punta Cana, on the Dominican Republic’s eastern region.
The TAM flight from Brazil will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on an Airbus A319, between Brasilia and Punta Cana.
LAN Airlines will fly between Bogota to Punta Cana on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, on an Airbus A320.
Both airlines, in agreement with the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, will work together to promote the country in key South American countries.
The LATAM Airlines Group is a result of the group’s association with LAN Airlines and its affiliates in Peru, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador.
The group also brings in its association with TAM Airlines and its subsidiaries, business units and the air transport company Mercasur. The Group currently transports passengers to 134 destinations in 24 countries.
The South American market grew by 24.7% during the January-November period. The countries experiencing the most solid growth are Venezuela (with 43,369 additional visitors); Brazil (27,943); Argentina (18,759); Colombia (12,113); Peru (7,205) and Chile (5,171).
The Dominican Central Bank revealed that during 2014 a total of 552,635 South American visitors traveled to the D.R. through the country’s international airports.
