Metro transported more than 60 million in 2015
The Santo Domingo Metro, with its two lines, transported 60,737,690 passengers in 2015, or 7.75% more than the previous year when it transported 56,410,989 commuters. The figures were published in the Metro office (Opret) 2015 Annual Report. Since its opening to the general public on 27 February 2009, the metro has transported 271,693,604 passengers, as reported in Diario Libre.
Works are underway on the extension of the second line to reach Santo Domingo East. The extension is scheduled to enter into service in the second half of 2016.
