Mayor gives herself a RD$207,000 raise
Santo Domingo East mayor Jeanette Medina raised her wages from RD$97,000 + 19,500 in “other income” in December 2015 to RD$322,000 in January 2016 after the death of her predecessor Juan de los Santos. De los Santos was murdered in his office in December 2015.
Acento.com reports this makes Medina the best-paid mayor in the municipalities of the province of Santo Domingo. Her salary is now RD$304,000 a month, plus RD$18,000 reported as other income.
According to data available online, National District mayor Roberto Salcedo is paid a wage of RD$265,000, Francis Pena of Santo Domingo West gets RD$250,000, Francisco Fernandez of Santo Domingo North receives RD$135,000, Daniel Ozuna of Boca Chica earns RD$100,000 and Junior Santos of Los Alcarrizos is paid RD$135,000.
