Santiago.- A Santiago three-judge court on Wednesday convicted the lawyer and TV commentator Marcos Martínez of slander and forgery, and ordered him to pay RD$1.0 million in damages to vice president Margarita Cedeño, who sued him in 2012.
Criminal Appealte Court judges Brunilda Castillo, Wilson Moreta and Maria Santana ruled against Martinez, who had been acquitted of the charges by a lower court.
Martinez had accused Cedeño, who was the First Lady at the time, of having an account of 75 million euros in a Danish bank.
