Government to fix 800 homes in one of the capital’s biggest slums
Santo Domingo.- Santo Domingo water utility (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas on Sunday said president Danilo Medina ordered the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 885 homes in La Cienaga, one of the capital’s biggest slums.
He said the committee appointed by Medina reviewed the dilapidated housing in the community and identified those to be repaired.
Montas said a census by CAASD and the Defense Ministry together with community and church leaders will be given to Medina with the details on how each home will be intervened.
The official added that the Defense Ministry and the CAASD will submit to Medina the budget to rehabilitate the 885 houses.
