Government bans Christmas gifts by officials and agencies
Santo Domingo.- The Presidency on Wednesday announced a ban on Christmas gifts, including baskets, beverages and other gratuities from public funds, an obligatory provision for all Executive Branch officials.
The memo signed by Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo excludes the government´s social assistance agencies that purchases food baskets to donate them to poor families during Christmas.
“Prioritizing the proper use of public resources is the only way to be able to target the areas and people who need them the most,” Montalvo said.
