Family de los Santos bought an old hotel in Playa Dorada Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata.- Family de los Santos, acquired a hotel property in Playa Dorada.
Cesar Jose, Oscar (Tutti) and Ondina Amelia de los Santos, next to her husband, Mathias Fitch have acquired the hotel Club on The Green with 336 Rooms, which was part of the portfolio of the Barceló chain and Occidental Hotels.
The hotel has been closed for about 8 years, and was for sale by the Barcelo chain, investment opportunity was exploited by the renowned family of Puerto Plata – De los Santos, who have been involved in local tourism development for years.
Family de los Santos was the creator of one of the most emblematic establishments in the area, Hemingway’s Café, a restaurant and a bar which has been the favorite place for domestic and foreign visitors for over 15 years, it will be remodeled in the coming months, while Al Fresco restaurant is undergoing refurbishing and will open in the coming days. Also there’s a development of the residential tourist urbanization Cerro Verde is currently under way.
Investors are currently in the process of defining the concept under which the hotel will operate.
The property has tennis courts, clubhouse, gym, spa, restaurants, an exceptional view of the golf course of Playa Dorada, Beach Club, among other facilities that will be upgraded.
In the beginning, the hotel was operated under the American brand of Radisson, then went to the Allegro Occidental Hotels chain, and after that to Barceló, and now it is in the hands of puertoplateñas.
The news has been welcomed by the entire tourism sector of Puerto Plata, as it is part of the whole process of renovation and re-positioning the destination of Puerto Plata.
