Expedia reports continued travel demand for the Caribbean

SEATTLE, USA — The Expedia group, one of the world’s leading travel companies, has reported that travel demand for the Caribbean has continued to increase on Expedia group sites. Top in-demand markets in the Caribbean during the third quarter of this year when compared to the same time in 2015 included:

• Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with an increase of nearly 25 percent

• Nassau, Bahamas with an increase of nearly 20 percent

• Ocho Rios, Jamaica with an increase of more than 50 percent

While the United States continues to be the top feeder market for most of the Caribbean, Punta Cana has seen an increase of more than 30 percent from Brazilian travelers as well as an increase of 20 percent in travel demand from France in the third quarter of 2016 when compared to third quarter of 2015.

“Our local market managers are equipped with Expedia’s powerful technologies and market insight to find specific solutions for our partners. The Caribbean continues to perform well internationally as hotel partners continue to utilize Expedia group’s platforms to reach their intended audiences and increase sales overall,” said Demetrius Canton, director of market management for the Caribbean, Expedia group.

With more local hotels aware of the mobile technology, market intelligence and other benefits of collaborating with Expedia, the Caribbean continues to see increased traffic on Expedia group sites 2016.
