Environment seizes 9 endangered parrot chicks from poacher
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry Environment on Tuesday seized nine chicks of the endangered parrot species Amazona ventralis, which poachers had captured at Valle Nuevo National Park, Constanza as they were about to be sold.
In a statement Environment said the chicks were seized from Ramon Garcia (Ramon Guandulito), who will be fined and charged with violating Environment and Natural Resources Law 64-00.
The parrots were confiscated at Valle Nuevo, where Environment Biodiversity deputy minister José Manuel Mateo said the chicks were already fully feathered and will be able to fly within two weeks.
