Dominicans migrating illegally to the EU
According to British newspaper the Daily Mail, hundreds of Dominicans are using the migration route through Turkey to reach the European Union.
The report estimates that 400 migrants came to Greece from the Caribbean in 2015, the majority from the Dominican Republic, and another 150 in the first three months of 2016.
The migrants do not need visas to enter Turkey and from there they go to other parts of the EU including Greece, some reportedly pretending they are from Somalia or Afghanistan.
From there, it is reported that the immigrants travel on to Spain, which has the largest Dominican expatriate population.
