Dominican Republic works to extradite Frenchman in ‘air cocaine’ escape

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Dominguez on Sunday said he’s working on the request to extradite French national Christophe Naudin, who’s accused of organizing the escape of two French pilots sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking in the “air cocaine” case.

Naudin, an aviation security specialist, was arrested Thursday by Interpol in Egypt on on an international arrest warrant.

Dominguez stressed the international cooperation to arrest the main suspect in the escape of French pilots Bruno Odos and Jean Pascal Fauret, who were under house arrest when they fled.

“The fight against international crime needs strong institutions and instruments to properly enforce it as each case warrants,” the official said in a statement.

Naudin was questioned by the Egyptian authorities to determine whether there is enough evidence to open an investigation on Dominican Republic’s request.
