Dominican Republic wins back its most impressive beach Bahia de las Aguilas
Santo Domingo.- The Superior Land Court on Thursday upheld the ruling which cancels property deeds issued to individuals for thousands of square meters of land in Bahia de las Aguilas.
Judges Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz, Pilar Jiménez Ortiz and Catalina Ferrera Cuevas ruled against 78 appeals filed against the ruling handed down by National District Land Court 8th Chamber judge Alba Beard Marcos.
State attorney Gedeon Platon and contracted lawyers Laura Acosta, Gustavo Biaggi Pumarol and Blas Minaya had motioned the court to reject the appeals.
After the hearing Acosta tweeted that her colleagues in the State’s defense team worked hard for the win, for a ruling that cannot be appealed since the Supreme Court had already heard it.
She noted that judge Beard had declared void all property transfers, transactions, surveys, subdivisions, consolidations and any operation since 1990, year when the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) then headed by Jaime Rodriguez Guzman fraudulently issued 1,200 titles to around 600 alleged farmers for lands located at Bahia de las Aguilas, southwestern Pedernales, where only iguanas and hardy weeds grow.
