Dominican Republic’s most wanted nabbed in Spain
Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry Thursday night announced the arrest in Spain of Dominican Republic’s most wanted fugitive, alleged drug kingpin Pascual Jesus Cabrera Ruiz.
Cabrera was being sought in connection with drug trafficking and money laundering and was the only fugitive yet to be apprehended.
The Justice Ministry’s Anti-money Laundering Unit said it carries out the protocol to extradite the accused to the Dominican Republic for arraignment.
Cabrera was indicted on money laundering together with his wife Claribel Amparo de Cabrera, in a case which also includes Pascual Cordero (El Chino), Jonas Aquies Castillo (Yunior Pañales ), the wife of Dario Gasolina and Cristian Sención Maceo, among others.
Cabrera had been sentenced to 30 years in prison; but he was later acquitted on October 31, 2001.
Justice minister Francisco Dominguez presented a list of 17 most wanted felons on September 2015, and said Cabrera’s ring shipped drugs to various countries, from the Dominican Republic, and was linked to dozens of killings in turf wars.
