Dominican cocoa crop could double
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- Agriculture minister Angel Estevez on Monday said the country is poised to raise cocoa production by 100%, Agranet.com reports.
“We have the ability to double cocoa production within thenext decade,” Estevez told the World Cocoa Conference, taking place in Bavaro, Punta Cana.
He said his country’s government is working with farmers to improve the productivity of plantations, “so producers can all live in dignity.”
